Birthday Celebration
Join us
December 6, 2025 at the
Women’s University Club,
1105 Sixth Ave in Downtown Seattle.
Doors will open at 1:30
Program begins at 2:00 pm
Regional Coordinator Jenny Costantini will make a short presentation about the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s Birth in December of 1775.
Following this presentation the Washington Regency Society and Friends will present a Fashion Show of the years of Jane Austen’s life 1775 – 1817.
After the Fashion Show we will move upstairs for tea and cookies, socializing in the Salon or game playing in the Gold Room.
No host cocktails will also be available at this time.
At 5 pm we will gather for dinner in the Dining Room.
In the style of Fordyce’s Sermons, Mr. Collins will say a few words before the meal.
The club's chef is preparing a special Regency inspired menu.

White Soup – inspired by the soup Bingley asks his cook to prepare for the Netherfield Ball

Collared Beef – a Regency standard: thinly pounded beef rolled around herbs and spices in a red wine au jus. Served with roasted potatoes and vegetables.

Vegetarian Savory Napoleon - layers of thinly sliced vegetables in a light sauce. Served with roasted potatoes and vegetables.

Dessert: Berry Trifle with Coffee or Tea
After the meal we will progress downstairs to the ball room where we will enjoy English Country Dancing with Laura Mé Smith calling, accompanied by a trio of musicians. There will be a no host bar open again at the ball and some light refreshments will be served.
The lounges upstairs will also be open for those who prefer quiet conversation or game playing to dance.
We will close out the dancing by 9:30 and be out the door by 10.

We understand there may be some people who only want to come for the ball starting at approximately 6 pm.

For those who want to make a whole weekend of it there are many hotels nearby.
Closest is the Kimpton Vintage right behind the club at 1100 5th Avenue, also near is the the Crown Plaza just north of the club at 1113 6th Avenue, and just south of the club is the Renaissance Seattle at the corner of 6th and Madison.
